Stripey Kisses by Novawuff Stripey Kisses by Novawuff
a thankyou featherpainting for a supernice friend who's decided to become annie's adoptive grandma.. she's helped us out with so much! :}

i'm not sure if i'm done with this yet.. haven't decided what i want to do in the way of decorating it.. any suggestions?
somehow I missed the fact that there were those giant splits in it until I was done. o.o i'm smart that way.

I finished this at my mom's house, cause she was keeping an eye on annie for me so I could paint uninterrupted, and my dad kept walking by and saying "HAY are those ligers??"
I told him, no, they were wrinkly leopards. ;P

This has really awestruck me, I've never seen a painting like this before, and on a feather! I love the textures of the paint on the feather and how rich the colours are. Tigers are also my favorite creatures. :wow:

I wonder how long this took you to paint? And how long is that feather?

This is beautiful. It's so realistic, while also being the sort of thing you'd have to be incredibly lucky to see in real life. And somehow, the splits in the feather seem like they're part of the picture, deliberately going against the tiger's stripes. I wish I could do things like this...

very beautiful!!! i've always wanted to try painting on feathers but it seems like it would be difficult...anyway i love the colors and just the tigers in general...very heart-warming scene :D only thing i can think of for decorations would maybe be gold glitter or beads...but it's still a wonderful piece as it is

Very beautiful, indeedy! I think the splits in the feathers give it a lot of character and uniqueness. It looks as though you have the splits there, purposely. What type of paints did you use for this? Acrylics?

As for decorating it, I personally would think you wouldn't want too much distraction to pull away from the painted feather. Perhaps you could have it framed, with the fame itself being a clear-stained mahogany wood? I would think dark colors for a matte board to help the painting stand out?
