I loved him to death, but we couldn't keep him due in part because of our small house and small yard, but the bigger issue was his growing aggression...
he bit the neighbor boy, bit the dog trainer, and was showing a bit of prey drive towards my then learning-to-crawl daughter.
He wasn't a bad dog at all.. he was a wolf! that's what they do.
Anyway we found him a great home and it all worked out... buuuut.. still in the back of my mind I keep remembering how cool he was (when he wasn't doing the bad wolf habits) and how someday it would be so awesome if it ever worked out to have a similar dog...
Well, recently I discovered that there may be a way to have the best of both worlds. A dog who looks like a wolf, but acts like a family friendly dog.
The two breeds I've been looking at are the Northern Inuit:

and the Native American Indian Dog:

Now, I've been researching both a TON and reading as much info as I can find..
The Northern Inuit seems like a more solid breed (they've been around longer than the NAID's), and I've found very little bad press about them. The only problem is that there doesn't seem to be any breeders in the US...
The NAID's i'm a little more attracted to (being of slight Cherokee heritage).. I like the idea behind them, they're bigger than the NI's, there ARE breeders in the USA...
buuuuut i've also found some rather negative info about them... that there is indeed wolf blood in the breed (I do NOT want another dog that I have to give up because it can't be family-friendly!), mostly being my main concern.
Anyways it will be a few years before we move into a bigger house with a bigger back yard, and so I can't get a big dog until then. That gives me a lot of time to think..
So I was just wondering if any of you had heard of these dogs (or similar breeds), have any information, opinions, advice..
I'd love to hear it!
thankie ^^

When my friend was looking for a dog to get I told her about the Alaskan Klee Kai. I looked up breeders and the ones in the US were selling them for $2000, she decided she didn't want one anymore x]
So basically if you want one bad enough you can take a trip into Canada or go with a NAID or other breed :/

I'm sorry to say it. but if it lived to hunt, it's gonna hunt! If it's been bred to bite/fight, well you get my meaning.
I'm sorry about your loss, but I miss Izzy (Great Dane) and Sam holds some love in my heart but I will never have a pitbull in my house.

Check these out. Can't remember about the wolf blood and am writing these really quick before I go out. So they may be suitable, may not. Anyway, gotta go.

The thing is. Every dog has a bit of wolf in them the pack instinct, the body langauge (high tail dominace over low tail) We can show them love and pay through the nose but it wont stop them hurting us.
And if you have a child the last thing you want at the back of your mind is can i trust the dog when im not in sight?
If you do get another dog buy a muzzle at the same time. That way if you dog does start getting aggressive you have got control and the dog will learn to stop biting other wise the muzzle goes on.
Is there anyway you could take on a rescue dog?, They can be Cool to and they need the most love.
Any way i wish you the best whatever you do take care.
Inuits are friendly dogs who need moderate amounts of excercise. They are usually completely oblivious to strangers, so make very bad guard dogs. MOSTLY they love children, but have to be raised with animals/kids from an early age due to their playful which may result in occasionally accidentally killing smaller animals like cats etc. Or harboring bad behaviour towards infants.
These aren't truly domesticated dogs, are a bit of a pain (and slow) to train, and can only be off-leashed in areas without busy roads, or really high fences.
These dogs are great jumpers, and diggers.
But if you have the patience, it's completely and utterly worth it.
If you dont mind the Every Day grooming that is.
Thats pretty much all I can think of right now.
There's no down sides as long as you stay in control of the dog, and monitor its actions in and out of house at all times.
Sorry for the essay!!!

I always asked, Will you be here...?
Then I realised you never were,
I fell and I layed broken and you weren't here.
I should be surprised... but I'm not.
You have never been here.
I was always alone...

I believe in Optimus Prime as my savior. If you do too and aren't scared to admit it, copy and paste this in your sig.

Hodi dodi dodi, let's build a Nose Tree!
There is only one recorded breeder in the entire US, and not a big one at that.

All their info. ^
I have heard their temperaments are amazing. Thats exactly what they were bred for actually. Bred to be friendly wolves. =3 Id give that breder a lookup. These are the closest wolf lookalikes Ive seen too, and they lack all that extra down and fur Inuits have. *Cant stand shedding dogs, lol, such a mess*
And that site has tons of amazing picture of them, too.
