How animal-hearted are you?

Journal Entry: Thu Jun 24, 2010, 8:01 AM

Or rather, what, if any, aspects of your personality, your looks, and odd things your body does, are reflective of your avatar?
I'll use the term "furry" here, although i know the meaning of the word is different for everyone..
Basically what i'm saying is anyone who doesn't feel a bit animalistic at heart need not apply. :D

I could wax eloquent about my list of traits that I feel I share with an arctic wolf, but there was really only one that i was curious about anyone else having.

I can move my ears at will, separately or together.  It's not noticeable on the outside from across the room or anything silly like that, since humans weren't meant to try and rotate their ears. XD  But what's always been curious to me is that they often try to twitch to catch a sound, and they definitely pin/back when my emotions are right for it.  I imagine the small muscles behind my ears are just more developed than the average..

But why all that?  I can't perk, pivot, or flatten my ears like a wolf could, yet the instinct to do so is so strong, my little human ears try anyways!

SO.. what i wanted to know, is if anyone else has a story like that?  Doesn't have to be about your ears, hehe.  Just any trait you felt you shared with your animal!

tell me tell me! curious minds want to know!

hmm... i think i might identify with a cat some, i'm EXTREMELY independent, i am even more stubborn, and can get very testy. if im in the mood though, i love to cuddle and sleep on people's stomachs. im not kidding. and sometimes i growl and hiss. oh, and i swear i have insomnia! i can never go to sleep early and usually end up listening to music. physically, im slim and tall for my age, and have really long fingers and feet. i dont know what that could identify with.

I'm always tilting my ears this way and that. Especially when Im trying to pin point something they tilt around in every direction til I get a lock on it XD I actually never paid much attention to it til right now, but I really do move my ears alot. Then again I'm a tundra wolf therian so the moving of the ears has become like second nature O_o That and smelling. I have to watch that smelling thing that I do. People pass me or sit next to me on the bus and I naturally want to sniff just to get familiar with whoever this person is that's in my space. That and I like to stare alot. Not realy stare but you know how animals will just be observing everything around them and will study people that seem interesting until they get bored and look somewhere else. I do that WAY too much. I'm just curious :P

I consider myself an elder female alpha white Rocky Mountain wolf (a subspecies of the Gray Wolf) as I love anything to do with being out in nature (mostly the forested mountains away from "man"), I love laying in the softest of places, I was born with blue eyes although in certain lighting they appear green or gold depending upon my mood at the time, I've been known to be very observant {watcher} and very cunning, extremely loyal to my mate {a black wolf} and pack, also known for being the "Wise One". My home has always been called "The Den". I communicate best with my mate {husband} and my dog.

I do that with my ears sometime too. And sometimes I really really do want to flatten my ears like a wolf if i could. When i used to walk to school i used to ...feel as if i should be flying. and with me im loyal like a wolf is and family is a big deal for me. when i had my own home before i left me ex i always felt i was the alpha in the house and no one was above me cause it was my home.

I think I also identify most with a wolf. I don't know if my ears actually move, but they definitely feel like they are doing so. And when I'm mad, I have to resist the very powerful urge to snarl and the muscles around my ears certainly feel like they are flattening, though I doubt they are. Also, I have a highly acute sense of smell. My mom says my face is way too expressive (bc she knows what I'm thinking without me speaking anything). My eyes themselves are brown, but as they move closer to the pupil, they lighten up and look slightly darker than the amber of wolves' eyes. I have a highly protective family drive and am loyal to a few select friends. For them, I'd die for.
Also, I have a highly sensitive nose. I avoid the perfume sections of stores because it makes me want to throw up. And in one of my lab classes, I detected that the gas was left on in the room when no one else could smell anything out of the ordinary. Luckily, we found the source and turned it off before someone caught the room on fire.
I yelp also when surprised (very annoying bc I can't stop doing it) and even taught my dog her boundaries of what she is and isn't allowed to do by growling at her. For example, now, when I'm eating, she will never look at me if she notices I'm watching her. If I start to turn in her direction, she tosses her head up or to the side as if she were whistling and saying 'I'm not doing anything...la-la-la...' It's really cute.
Oh, and when someone gets in my face (especially with their fingers pointing) I tend to bite...really hard. ^^;
And I often sleep curled in a ball! :D

I am a cat, more than anything else. If I'm happy I always want to purr. Seriously! I make this gargling noise in my throat, really quietly. It's quite amusing actually. Also I need my own space. I get irritated if I'm around people for too long. I go all quite and I can almost feel my tail twitching. Iunno, it's hard to describe, but when a cat is annoyed they don't snarl, bare their teeth or growl. They go quiet, flick their tail, then suddenly lash out. One strike usually, then run. That is precisely what I do.

However, I hate having my hair touched/ stroked by ANYONE, so I guess there's that difference XD
