So, a couple people have asked about how things are coming along commission-wise, and why I haven't posted much, etc.
Well, it goes like this: "Ah weasel, my old nemesis. We meet at last... no, wait. Again. And again and again and again. Crap."
That would be this guy -
[link] And in case you couldn't tell, it's not done yet. Also, this is a 9 x 12 in paper, if you were curious. :}
He's the commission for

It's her little ermine character... he started out really cute and I was really happy about this image. I was looking forward to using real life paints again - acrylics - after doing so much digital painting. I used to paint in acrylics a lot in high school and college, and I THOUGHT I was good at it then, so, hey, no problem!
BUT... for WHATEVER REASON this guy has made me ready to barf on it, burn it, cry, throw it out the window, rip it up, paint over it in depths-of-hell black... it's given me serious art block for the first time in my artistic LIFE.
Here's what I think happened: I foolishly expected acrylic paint and brushes to act like a digital painting. Don't ask me why. I know better. I know there's no undo, no zoom (my eyes suck and it's hard to see tiny details irl), no color picker, no layers, no filters or tricks or anything like that...
But I was holding myself to the same standard of quality within the same timeframe.
I think I can still swing the quality, but it certainly has not gone as fast. I think it was the extreme frustration at that very thing that got me so discouraged.. it just snowballed.
Anyways, I took a little break, and now I'll set to finishing him. There's really not tooooo much left. Not hard stuff, anyways.
So, I apologize for taking so long on everyone's stuff. This wasn't planned, and it's not like I haven't been trying. I just got stuck. Blah!
Other little notes - there's a bunch of scanner dust specs on it that will not be on the final version, so ignore those. I have two reference photos I'm using and will post links to them when I'm done as well. :}
As to what's left - he needs some lighter hairs on his forehead, and maybe some tweaking of his throat/underbelly hair. After that it's just the moss and crap in front of him, which doesn't have to be /perfect/, so I'm hoping I can just waltz right through it.
Gah!!!!
haha XD
It gave me a good laugh to see that you named the file 'satan.jpg'
It's how our eyes work when we see the world around us -- if you look at something directly, everything around it becomes slightly blurred, to where you can see shapes, sure, but they aren't in focus, and you've achieved this perfectly with this piece.
The only thing I would do here is to add a little more light green just around the foilage at the bottom of the character, and call it done. Honestly, this is near perfect how it is, don't make everything detailed -- only cameras do that.
