I finally took the time (which took so much /more/ time than it should have on this tortise-slow computer, argh) to set up a few of my images on here to sell prints with. I only did the ones that had print requests...I don't think there's really that much interest. What was funny to me was that 3 out of the 4 all had waterfalls. Maybe there's something to be learned from that... (people want to buy pictures with waterfalls in them..?)
I'm signed up to the werewolf calendar again this year... sounds like fun! I get to do an image of a mommy with her cubs.. have a lot of neat ideas rolling around in my head. I'm still experimenting quite a bit with the way I want my werewolves to look. I don't like the traditional werewolf.. who looks like a hairy man with a wolf's head. I mean, they jog. Jogging werewolves! The other kind of werewolves... built less like a human, with long, crouched back legs.. are slightly better but they always look unbalanced and clumsy to me. And they still rather look like they're jogging.
In my mind, if a werewolf has to run on only his back legs, he would move more like a velociraptor... a very smooth, purposeful stride that is quick and powerful... very predatorial. And that's only if he couldn't run on all fours, which you'd think would be preferrable. So I'm wanting to create an animal that can rise up and stand on it's hind legs.. using it's front arms and hands/paws for manipulation like a human, but doesn't "run" on two legs like a human. It would also need to be able to drop to all fours at any time and be able to cover ground as quickly and easily as any wolf.. faster, even. To me, a werewolf is a mix of human and wolf, but better than both... and it just seems like most of the ones I see around are just a clumsy mix inbetween the two. I don't know. There are a lot of things I don't like about the calendar image for 2007.. and I had my share of comments about the weird back legs and feet and stuff.... hehe.. but I was really in a time crunch, and all things considered, I still think it's passable for what it is. Just looking forward to coming up with something better, I guess. :}
If it helps any, Yellow-eyes' werewolves go down on all fours to run, and it was her reference sheets that we instructed everyone to reference off of last year (sorry you didn't hear that...since everything was given to you late) so that we had a consistant vision of a WW. That's why Rayn's image was of a WW running on all fours for January.
I know what you mean. I hate those werewolfs that look like some hairy man wearing a mask. _ _; (hah). That's pretty much what they look like to me...and i agree with your "jogging werewolf" thought, they do look like their jogging, but i wouldnt know what to do about that. I can't wait to see what you come up with, as i'm sure it'll be great.
Hahaha jogging werewolves. I know EXACTLY where your coming from, I really like your idea of it being able to drop onto all 4s at any time that makes perfect sence. I cant wait to see the outcome of this I know its guna be awesome! Make sure you add some sketches dear Toasty x
Ha. I see, totally understand. Quite frankly I like your idea. Umm good luck on your werewolf drawings...I don't like my drawing of a werewolf. they look like their the jogging kind too. Ugh it bothers me. But just don't let your opinion ruin the beauty of your art, it's what happened to me. Then my friend told me to do this and I am very new @ this stuff...I like your art a lot though! (^_^)~ *ruff ruff!
making a running werewolf look balanced can ba pain.. I tried to do it once but I don't think I succeed to well Ah well you learn more from mistakes then you do from doing it right the first time!
Are we using the same one for this year, then?
No real loss, except to a basketball team.
I look forward to the new calender!
I cant wait to see the outcome of this I know its guna be awesome!
Make sure you add some sketches dear
